Artistic Statement

To capture images or video underwater, you must understand the element and its inhabitants. The right equipment and the correct breathing gas are the foundation, but the real art lies in working with the animals – finding their hiding places and responding to their curiosity. Add to that the whims of nature: suspended particles in the water, the difference between fresh and salt water, and the extreme contrasts between day and night. Because water filters light and causes colours to disappear, every image becomes a masterpiece of adaptation. Even after 2,000 dives, this fascination has never left Daniel.

About

With his camera, Daniel captures stunning glimpses of the flora and fauna beneath the water's surface. His dives take him through the waters of his native Switzerland as well as international destinations such as the Maldives, the Red Sea, and the Galápagos Islands. He documents the tiniest creatures alongside majestic marine life, local river landscapes, and historic wrecks. Through his platform aquamedia.ch, he shares his photographic discoveries with those who love nature and history, offering a window into hidden worlds beneath the water.
