Artistic Statement
Maja moves between painting and mixed media in her artistic practice. Her works emerge intuitively and spontaneously from a dialogue with material, colour, and the creative process. Used packaging materials such as cardboard and wrapping paper become the starting point for an artistic transformation. Maja discovers a unique aesthetic in the ordinary, the imperfect, and the transient, lending new meaning to what seems worthless. She juxtaposes these works with her colour-intensive, abstract flower paintings. Born from emotion, movement, and presence, they express joy, lightness, and vitality. Both groups of works unfold their impact in the encounter with the viewer and in what they evoke.
About
Maja is a business lawyer who has been working as an artist in parallel since 2000. Her artistic engagement in theory and practice is shaped by a fascination with aesthetics in the everyday. Colours, textures, contrasts, and found objects inspire her to give space to the hidden beauty of the overlooked.
